Post-Secondary Education Advice

Did you know that colleges and universities offer special evening, weekend and part-time studies for adult learners?

Have you heard about the CLEP (credit-by-examination) or experiential learning credit? Do you need to complete a high school diploma program or enroll in a GED class? Join us and find out how you can begin the admissions-readmission process, select the appropriate learning environment (2-year or 4-year institution, vocational or training program) and make a successful transition from work or home to school.

In Search of Financial Aid
Who is eligible? What types of aid are available? Where do I get the proper forms? What is the FAFSA? How do I apply for assistance? The answers to these and many more questions on financial aid resources for post-secondary education will be provided.

Education and Career Planning for the Twenty-First Century
(Preparing for the Year 2000) Explore the options, assess your skills, look at employment trends in the Washington Metropolitan area and discuss educational requirements for various careers.

Student Loan Default/Debt Management
Get basic information, pertinent phone numbers and addresses on the following topics: How can I consolidate my loan? Can I have default removed from my credit record? Under what conditions can my loan be canceled? I want to repay. What do I do? Can I go back to school if I'm in default? This is not my loan. What can I do?

College Survival Skills
Get off to a good start, choose the right courses, budget your time (school vs. home vs. job), learn how to study, find out where to go on campus for support (academic and financial aid) and more.
