Educational Excellence

The District of Columbia has adopted new, more challenging learning standards designed to encourage the highest achievement of every student, by defining the knowledge, concepts, and skills that students should acquire at each grade level. The new learning standards in reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics are among the best in the nation and are the cornerstone of the school system’s commitment to provide an excellent education to each student. Revised science and social studies standards are being developed and will be posted when completed. The curriculum frameworks are the blueprints for implementing the content standards adopted by the District of Columbia Public Schools System.
