NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 10, 2002 SEO Hosts Forums on 'No Child Left Behind' The State Education Office is hosting a series of conversations to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the No Child Left Behind Act. Signed into law in January 2002, the legislation's impact is already being felt by education agencies across the country. This past summer the State Education Office hosted its first discussion on the sweeping changes presented in the legislation. Future discussions will focus on increased accountability for state and local education agencies, teacher qualifications, and greater options for parents and students when a school's test scores persistently fail to improve.
