Office of Public Charter School Financing and Support Special Programs – Flexible Funds Grant
The United States Congress, through the Fiscal Year 2006 awarded the funds available for this grant to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education. The purpose of the Flexible Funds Grant is to support a mix of public charter school programs, initiatives, or activities. This grant was established in an effort to ensure that all schools could benefit from Federal funds. Innovative program models (i.e., extended day, year-round, summer bridge, early college) may be difficult to implement on a funding formula that was not designed with a non-traditional program in mind. The funds received under this grant may be used to offset a one time cost, as seed money, or as funds for public charter schools to enhance, improve or implement programs or services. The funding made available through this grant will assist public charter schools to enhance programs or services such as, but not limited to art, music, or sports programs, playgrounds, science laboratories, computers, vocational education equipment, libraries, mental health services, staff development, leadership development, innovative program models, and the staffing to implement such activities.
