Application Requirements

In order to be eligible for this grant, you must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) to attach to your LEAP application AND meet the following criteria:

  • Be an established DC resident for at least 18 months prior to filing the LEAP application.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien.
  • Be accepted for or enrolled in a degree granting (AA, AS, BA, BS) undergraduate program in an accredited college or university on at least a halftime basis.
  • Be enrolled for a full academic year (fall and spring semesters or fall, winter, and spring quarters).
  • Have substantial financial need.
  • Be in compliance with the school's satisfactory academic progress policy.
  • File a LEAP application for every year in undergraduate school (receipt of an award in a previous year does not automatically qualify you for an award in a subsequent year).
  • Follow the Application Instructions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 24, 2005, for the 2005-2006 academic year.

ATTENTION: DC LEAP Applicant. Don’t get caught on the Waiting List! DC LEAP grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Remember to advise your school Financial Aid Officer to complete Side B of this application and return it to our office as soon as possible to increase your chances of receiving grant funds!
